Estela de Llanos
Estela de Llanos is Vice President of Energy Procurement and Sustainability for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), one of Sempra’s regulated California utilities. SDG&E provides service to 3.6 million consumers through 1.4 million electric meters and more than 873,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties.
In her current role, de Llanos is responsible for SDG&E’s sustainability strategy, electric and fuel procurement, environmental services, and San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station decommissioning. She is the Chief Environmental Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer for SDG&E.
Prior to her current role, de Llanos led SDG&E’s electric vehicle, hydrogen, energy storage and other advanced clean technology initiatives.
De Llanos started her career in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins LLP, specializing in California land use and environmental matters. She has 25 years of experience in energy, environmental policy and compliance, project development, and non-profit board service.
De Llanos joined Sempra in 2007 as senior environmental counsel and has held a number of positions at SDG&E, Southern California Gas Company, and Sempra.
De Llanos serves as vice chair of the California Environmental Voters Education Fund, secretary of the Coalition for Clean Air, and is a member of the board of trustees of the Francis Parker School in San Diego. She previously served as board chair for the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice.
Estela earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a second major in International Studies from Yale University and her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
